SOLO MUSIC

"Ayesha, a feisty singer-songwriter and producer from Barcelona, releases an eclectic album of electro-acoustic
loop-pop..."

A. Prigann, Barcelona Today

After years recording and touring with electro nu-jazz outfit Misnoma (Xiringuito Music), Ayesha's first solo album “Of that ilk” is quite a departure and sees her knack for experimentation and song-writing soar. By recording vocal loops and simple lines from instruments picked up on her many travels and manipulating them using Ableton Live, she creates a delicious blend of electro-acoustic funk, with driving melodies, ethereal choirs and North-African rhythms. The album's grooves are all programmed using sampled household objects (wine glasses, chopsticks… even her cats!) Add to that Russian Dmitry Tikov's punchy beats, violin arrangements and ripping Korg MS20 lines, and “Of that ilk” is truly a magnum opus.

With performances in Barcelona’s best clubs – including the Sala Apolo 2, City Hall, New York Club and Club13 – and appearances at electronic festivals in Spain (Femelek 07, La Mercè 07, BCN Femme Sound '08, Festadona '08, Tranuita '08) and the UK (Glastonbury's Leftfield stage and Shambala's main stage), this girl sure knows how to put on a show.
